Marx and Science by J.D.Bernal, 1952, Rare
Marx and Science by J.D. Bernal, copyright 1952 by International Publishers Co, Inc., New York.
Fascinating essay by British physicist J.D. Bernal. Analyzes the relationships between socialist philosophy and modern science. Mathematics, Darwin's Origin of Species and Natural Selection, industrial machinery, and the role of science in Marxist/socialist economic theory, etc. are all discussed. Includes bibliographical reference notes.
Some of you might better know Bernal from an earlier (1929) work, The World, the Flesh, and the Devil, which develops an almost Extropian philosophy including predictions for the future of mankind that, today, seem spookily prescient. He later adopted the more Marxist viewpoints that are clearly conveyed in Marx and Science
